Staff Profiles
John Duncan is the project manager of StudyAbroad.com, the study abroad directory that gave birth to BlogAbroad.com. He developed a sweet tooth for international travel when he was six-years-old, taking his first bite of going abroad with a trip to Italy. That trip brought him one of the most vivid memories of his childhood - having a pigeon squat on his head as he panicked and onlookers squealed in amusement. Unabashed by this traumatic experience, John spent a large portion of the next three decades traveling as far and as often as he could. He brought his enthusiasm with him to StudyAbroad.com when he became a sales representative in 2001. That enthusiasm, as well as his penchant for great ideas, led to his promotion to product manager of the site. Since taking on that role, he has rocketed StudyAbroad.com to new heights, and BlogAbroad.com is an example of that. He wanted everyone to have the chance to know what going abroad is like, even if they don't get to experience having a pigeon rest on their head. With a passion for adventure, a willingness to try new things, and a deep understanding of the global world, John Duncan is the perfect person to oversee this revolutionary project. | ![]() John Duncan |

Matt Ulmer is the public relations writer at Educational Directories Unlimited, the company behind BlogAbroad.com. He graduated from La Salle University in 2004 with a major in Communication and a minor in English. While at La Salle he wrote and directed a small handful of films, one of which won Best Picture at a La Salle film festival, and since graduating he has written two novels and has started work on a third. He is still very much involved in the La Salle Film Club, serves on the university's student board, and has just been nominated to a position on the alumni council. At EDU he oversees public relations, making sure the company stays in the news and the public has a positive opinion of who we are and what we do. His unhealthy obsession with technology also makes him a perfect fit as a member of the BlogAbroaod.com team. |
Kim Gradel is the content writer at Educational Directories Unlimited, the company behind BlogAbroad.com. She graduated from Grove City College with a BA in English in 2002. This background has given her an incredible work ethic and an uncanny ability to write truckloads of excellent content quicker than Stephen King writes novels. A testament to her writing skills was when she was asked to present an academic paper at Grove City College's Christian Writers' Conference in spring of 2003. She has also written numerous articles and content for various academic websites and magazines and donates her time by feeding others at soup kitchens, teaching classes at Sunday school, and serving as a 'big sister' to a twelve-year-old girl. She is also the director of Christian education at her church. She brings this huge heart and even bigger writing talent to the BlogAbroad.com team. |
